  Firewall

What is a firewall?

As its name suggests (Fire wall: a wall constructed to prevent the spread of fire), a firewall is a system that protects internal computing resources from unauthorized access or use and allows to block specific traffic on the network.
For your home computer, you may install a software-based firewall, such as ZoneAlarm.

Windows XP Users
Windows XP users are recommended to install the Service Pack 2 and enable the built-in firewall.
  Macintosh Users
Mac OS X has a built-in firewall. See how to enable this feature.
